Official handing over of the National Highland Research and Development Center (NHRDC) Facilities to National Livestock Research Center (NLRC), Jakar, Bumthang.
Subsequent to the executive order issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock via letter no. MoAF/SEC/01/2022/673 dated 29 September 2022, and following approval from the Royal Civil Service Commission via letter no. RCSC/CSR/2022/1077 dated 28 September 2022 directing the implementation of civil service restructuring reforms, the Department of Livestock following its proposal to delineate all livestock research under the National Livestock Research Center (NLRC), Jakar, Bumthang and re-locate the National Highland Research and Development Center (NHRDC) to Wangduephodrang has been completed by handing-taking of NHRDC facilities and infrastructures at Jakar to NLRC on 20th Jan, 2023. The NLRC will operate immediately after the completion of the staff deployment process.
The re-structuring of National Livestock Research Center is done as a part of the overall goal of civil service reforms to strengthen efficiency, effectiveness and service delivery towards nation building. The broad mandates of the National Livestock Research Centre (NLRC) is to act as the premier organization in the country to spearhead innovative livestock research for transformation of the livestock sector for sustainable utilization of livestock resources with enhanced economic value.
