Mahseer Conservation and Fish Monitoring Center, Harachu

The official handing and taking over of the Mahseer Conservation and Fish Monitoring Center (MC&FMC) was held between the Department of Livestock (DoL) and the Punatsangchhu Hydroelectric Power Authority – II (PHPA II)on 24th March 2021.
The facility was established as a measure to mitigate the effects of hydropower project on Mahseer in Punatsangchhu River. The main function of the Center will be to ensure the healthy population of Mahseer and other native fish species through fish breeding and long term monitoring program. Other function include both fish conservation and fishery development in the region.
MC&FMC will function as one of the sub centers of NRCR&LF, Haa.
